i noticed that andy burnham and lord adonis (crazy name, crazy guy) both are suggesting that there be cross-party consensus over the "death tax" and high speed rail link between london and birmingham and that these issues are
"Above politics"
is this the new approach by labour - define any of their policies as "above politics" so that they can then criticise the tories from some sort of moral high ground (okay, in their own little worlds) when they inevitably disagree or question.
weak.

paper round
morning,
this is a quick roundup of stories in some of today's main national press that interested/irritated me (as well as a review of breakfast "news") although i cannot bring myself to read the mirror so i cannot comment on it!
times: good coverage of the deficit problem and the trouble ahead for brown. some of the comments show that there are still a bunch of idiots who think he is "doing the right thing" and clinging to the letter in the FT from 60 economists as evidence - how many of the 60 predicted the mess we would be in now?
also reports on a london school who have ten students visiting mrs obama - from the pictures i have to say they do not look like they represent the ethnic make-up of the uk - perhaps quotas should have been used?
telegraph: good article by jeff randall as usual but otherwise lots of celebrity news!
guardian: bizzare editorial on the falklands - very surprised for such a patriotic newspaper to ...oh!
daily mail: brown going to call an april election? plenty on the falklands. coincidence?
the sun: harriet harman pressured wathdog to cover up expenses - she is having a blinding week!
sky news: irritating emphasis on the letter from 60 economists as if what they say is absolute fact followed by a story about brown warning that "right wing" parties want to destroy the economy because they hate government. no mention of deficit issues.....
bbc breakfast: presenters cock-a-hoop over the letter from the 60 economists etc. good performance by andrew lansley about "death-tax". did not let the labour shill presenter drive him down a certain route. just listening to andy burnham now actually being given a more difficult time then i expected - waiting for some campbells tinned tears moment - perhaps "but my wife will leave me if the tories get in.." be careful of that mascara andy.
